About Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department (SSEPD)
The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department was created as a separate Department during 2015-16 being bifurcated from W & CD Deptt. Since its foundation, it has worked to promote the general well-being of people with disabilities, providing social security pensions, pensions to the poor and people with disabilities through a variety of specially created schemes and programmes. It also covers programme for senior citizens, those with disabilities, and transgender people.
