Age Limit

Candidates must be between 21 and 38 years of age to be eligible. Certain categories may have age relaxation:

  • Female: 5 years
  • PwBD: 10 years
  • OBC: 5 years
  • SC/ST/BPL: 5 years
  • Ex-serviceman: Number of years of service rendered in defense services

Educational Qualification

To be eligible for the OSSC CGL Exam, candidates must meet specific educational qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: In any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Odia Language Proficiency: Pass in M.E. School Examination with Odia as a language subject or completion of HSE exam from an Odia medium school. Alternatively, passing a test in Odia at the M.E. School standard conducted by the Odisha Education Department.
  • Computer Proficiency: Candidates should have proficiency in computer skills, and possessing a certificate in computer basics from PGDCA is acceptable.


Candidates must be Indian citizens, and any discrepancies regarding citizenship status will be resolved based on the department’s decision.

Other Eligibility Criteria

In addition to age and education, candidates must adhere to additional eligibility criteria specified in the official notification:

  • Health and Physical Fitness: Candidates must possess sound health, a robust physique, and maintain sound mental health.
  • Character Verification: A clean character record is imperative; candidates should not be involved in any criminal cases.
  • Marital Status: Candidates should have a single living spouse, as multiple spouses are not permissible.
  • Attempts: The notification does not specify a limit on the number of attempts, but candidates are advised to consider their maximum age limit while planning attempts.

In addition to the basic salary, candidates receive allowances such as DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance), and other admissible allowances, which contribute to the overall salary package.
